Salivary Bacterial Testing for Periodontal Disease

Identify periodontal pathogens using paper point sampling and DNA-PCR technology

Paper Point Sampling Method

Designed to identify periodontal pathogens from specific periodontal sites using paper point collection and DNA-PCR technology.

Detect Oral Pathogens Linked to Systemic Health

Our 11-Microbes™ DNA-PCR test identifies bacteria associated with periodontal disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other systemic conditions.

Linking Oral Bacteria to Periodontal Disease and Systemic Health

MicrobeLink Dx® provides salivary bacterial testing using paper point sampling to identify periodontal pathogens directly at the site of infection

Our 11-Microbes™ DNA-PCR test detects key bacteria associated with periodontal disease, chronic inflammation, and poor treatment response, supporting earlier intervention before bone loss or systemic spread.

Research has linked specific oral pathogens to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and other systemic conditions. By identifying bacterial risk factors early, clinicians can move beyond visual assessments and make more informed, personalized treatment decisions.

What MicrobeLink Dx® Helps Identify:

  • Periodontal pathogens driving bleeding gums

  • Bacterial risk factors linked to systemic disease

  • Sites of active infection using paper point sampling

  • Peri-implant pathogens associated with implant inflammation and bone loss

  • Patients who may benefit from earlier or adjunctive therapy

Easy Setup for Salivary Bacterial Testing

Getting started with MicrobeLink Dx® is simple. Set up an account, receive your paper point sampling kits, and begin testing periodontal sites right away—no complex equipment or training required.

Easy-to-Read Periodontal Reports

The 11-Microbes™ DNA-PCR report identifies pathogenic bacterial load, organizes results by risk level, and highlights clinically significant findings—making it easier to guide periodontal treatment decisions.

Support More Predictable Treatment Outcomes

Identifying periodontal pathogens with site-specific paper point sampling helps clinicians better understand disease risk, support therapy planning, and reduce the likelihood of persistent inflammation or relapse.

Common FAQs

How long does it take to receive salivary bacterial test results?

Clinical Success Story

Trish Sutherland Testimonial

““Bacterial testing helped my patients understand their condition earlier and take treatment recommendations more seriously. It changed the way we communicate—and how patients respond.”
— Dr. Trish S..

Early Bacterial Detection Supports Better Periodontal Care

Before integrating MicrobeLink Dx® salivary bacterial testing, identifying patients at higher risk for periodontal disease progression was often based on clinical signs alone.

Using the 11-Microbes™ paper point sampling system, our practice gained clearer insight into site-specific periodontal pathogens that were not always evident during routine exams. This allowed for earlier intervention, more targeted conversations with patients, and improved confidence in treatment planning.

Since implementing bacterial testing, our team has seen more predictable responses to therapy and stronger patient understanding of why treatment was recommended—not just what was needed.

Individual results may vary. Bacterial testing is used to support clinical decision-making alongside comprehensive periodontal evaluation.
